Garages are not wired to support the load of electric car charging. If a circuit is tripped, all outlets connected to that circuit will not have power. Additionally, for detached garages (where the garage is not accessible from the unit), all other garages connect to the same circuit will not have power and hence, will not be able to open. The cost of electricity for all detached garages is paid for by the HOA, not homeowner.
